I have found my new favorite bar- The Monarch.
I went a couple of months ago because a group of us met up with my other friends while they were on a pub crawl. We arrived past 9 and had to pay a cover charge, so we stayed the entire night. I loved the music and the atmosphere. It reminded me of Marcus' friends from home and our dance parties in our family room. I knew I wanted to come back and I am sad to say it took so long to return.
Last night, I planned on taking Janina and Tiffany there because they are visiting me for two weeks. I planned O'Neills on Thursday and the Monarch on Saturday. Janina ended up staying in to do her four page paper that is due the day before she returns to the States, so Tiff and I got dressed and went out. We walked to the bus stop in the POURING rain with a few of our other friends and made our way to Camden. We ended up having to pay a cover charge, but I knew it was going to be worth it so I did not care. Within the first ten minutes of being there, Tiff looked at me and said "I love this place!" I yelled back "ITS AMAZING RIGHT!?! I LOVE IT". Last night was Soundtrack night. There was music from every decade starting with Johnny Cash in the 50s to Eminem when we left. They played Aerosmith, the Beach Boys, David Bowie, Queen. I was in musical heaven and became a dancing fool. Tiff and I danced for hours, and it was one of the best times I have had in London.
I now have a special place in my heart for the Monarch. It is the most relaxed, cool, fun place I have found here and Tiff and I kept saying we hope we can find something equivalent ,or somewhat close, in America.
I can't wait to take Marcus there.
